MAJOR BREAKING: Giants Sign Two Chiefs In A Surprising Late And Lateral Move

New York Giants Running Backs Coach Joel Thomas has departed the team to return to the New Orleans Saints in the same role. Thomas joined the Giants last offseason after spending nine years with the Saints. Under Head Coach Brian Daboll, he was the third running backs coach in three seasons, following DeAndre Smith and Jeff Nixon.

Thomas is the seventh coach to depart from the Giants this year, joining defensive passing game coordinator/defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson, safeties coach Mike Treier, assistant quarterbacks coach Christian Jones, defensive assistants Ben Burress and Zak Kuhr, and offensive assistant Christian Daboll.

GIANTS SIGN TWO CHIEFS…

The New York Giants have signed wide receiver Montrell Washington and cornerback Nic Jones to reserve/future contracts. Both players ended the 2024 NFL season on the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad.

The 25-year-old Montrell Washington, standing 5’10” and weighing 170 pounds, was originally selected by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he appeared in 15 games with one start, recording four receptions for two yards while also handling kickoff and punt return duties. After being waived by the Broncos in August 2023, he joined the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad. Over the past two seasons with Kansas City, Washington played in seven regular-season games, primarily on special teams, logging just seven offensive snaps.

The 23-year-old Nic Jones, standing 6’0” and weighing 189 pounds, was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Over his two seasons with the team, he appeared in 10 games without making a start, recording four tackles. Nine of those games came during the 2023 season.
