Bills Linked $140 Million Receiver From AFC East

After another playoff defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, this time in the AFC Championship game, the Buffalo Bills are once again looking to make the necessary moves to push them past the hurdle. One area they are likely to target this offseason is their receiving corps.

Khalil Shakir made significant progress as a slot receiver this season, and rookie Keon Coleman showed promise, but with veterans Mack Hollins and Amari Cooper set to hit free agency, questions remain about Shakir’s ability to be the primary target. The Bills could explore their divisional rival, the New York Jets, for help, as the Jets may be looking to trade a top receiver.

Davante Adams has two years remaining on his contract, but it’s widely expected that the Jets will release him before free agency to save the $35.64 million he’s owed. With the Jets parting ways with Aaron Rodgers, it’s unlikely Adams will want to return to the team.

Last year, the Bills were reportedly interested in trading for Adams, but he was ultimately traded to the Jets. The Bills then shifted focus and acquired Amari Cooper, indicating they had strong interest in Adams as a key player for a potential Super Bowl run.

In October, FOX Sports analyst Colin Cowherd discussed the possibility of a pairing between Davante Adams and the Buffalo Bills, describing it as a perfect fit between the six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro and quarterback Josh Allen.

Cowherd asked rhetorically on his show, “How could you even consider other teams if the Bills reached out to you?” Adams has surpassed 1,000 yards in six of the past seven seasons, with his only exception being a 997-yard performance in 2019 over 12 games.

He has led the NFL in receiving touchdowns twice in the last five seasons and reached his 100th career touchdown this past year. Adams would complement Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman well, taking much of the pressure off Shakir, as defenses would likely focus on Adams, who has amassed over 11,000 career receiving yards.
