Breaking: This Is Why It Pay To Add Depth, Another Rangers Major Weapon Down With Uncertain Recovery Injury

The Texas Rangers are aiming to rebound from a rough 2024 season, which was derailed by injuries to key players like Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, and Josh Jung. Unfortunately, they’re already facing another setback in spring training, this time with outfielder Adolis García. However, manager Bruce Bochy provided some reassurance on Wednesday, stating that García is expected to be ready for Opening Day.

According to The Associated Press, the Texas Rangers anticipate that right fielder Adolis García will be ready for Opening Day after testing revealed a mild strain in his sore left oblique. Manager Bruce Bochy clarified Wednesday that García’s injury is “not quite” a Grade 1 strain.

García was scratched from Tuesday’s spring training game after experiencing discomfort, but Bochy offered some reassurance, saying, “They felt this was between a zero and a one, I guess.” While oblique injuries can be tricky, the Rangers remain optimistic about his recovery timeline.

García was a workhorse last season, appearing in 154 games, but his production took a significant hit. His 94 OPS+ was 33 points lower than his career-best in 2023, and his home run total dropped from 39 to 25.

For the Rangers to make a serious playoff push, they need García healthy and producing in the heart of their lineup. Given the nature of oblique injuries, they’d be wise to take a cautious approach, keeping him sidelined for as long as necessary in spring training to ensure he’s fully ready for Opening Day.
