Bills LB Terrel Bernard agrees to 4-year extension

The story was initially reported by Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network on Friday morning. The deal will take effect starting in the 2026 season, and includes a signing bonus and guaranteed money, though specific details have not been disclosed yet.

Bernard, the inside linebacker, was chosen by his teammates as one of Buffalo’s two captains for the 2024 season. In his third NFL season, Bernard recorded 104 tackles, two interceptions, five tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, one sack, and three pass breakups. Over his three years with the Bills, Bernard has started 31 games and played in 46.

He has accumulated 263 tackles and 7.5 sacks, proving to be a threat to opposing quarterbacks with 12 quarterback hits. His career totals also include five interceptions, 15 tackles for loss, eight passes defensed, and four fumble recoveries.

The Bills have been actively working on locking up their players with contract extensions this season. One of the notable moves was extending wide receiver Khalil Shakir, which caused a stir not just in Orchard Park, New York, but also around the league.

Shakir shared a jubilant video on social media after signing his extension. “Bills Mafia, what up? Signed and delivered, man. Appreciate y’all, can’t wait to keep playing in front of y’all. Your support is everything. Go Bills,” Shakir said. The team confirmed Shakir signed a four-year extension, reportedly worth up to $60.2 million, with $32 million guaranteed.
