Breaking: Trade Pitch Sees Yankees Acquiring Power Threat Player Fascinating Injury Swap

The New York Yankees received disappointing news on Friday night, as reports revealed that right-hander Gerrit Cole is experiencing elbow discomfort. Cole underwent imaging that day but is awaiting further evaluations before deciding on a course of action.

With the Yankees aiming for a World Series title this season, they may need to acquire another pitcher if Cole is sidelined.

Drew VonScio of Newsweek proposed a trade that would bring Sandy Alcantara to the New York Yankees from the Miami Marlins. His trade package includes sending Marcus Stroman, Will Warren, and Everson Pereira to Miami.
Alcántara remains under team control for three more years, including the 2025 season, making his trade value high.

This proposed deal would give the Marlins a promising young pitcher in Will Warren, who could develop within their rotation with less immediate pressure. Warren made five starts for the Yankees in 2024.

The New York Yankees rely on Gerrit Cole to anchor their rotation and fulfill their championship aspirations. Adding Sandy Alcántara, the 2022 NL Cy Young Award winner, could provide a strong replacement if needed.

However, Alcántara has dealt with his own injury concerns, and it would be inaccurate to suggest he matches Cole’s level of dominance.

Cole doesn’t seem too optimistic about his injury, admitting that he’s “concerned.”

“I’m concerned. I’m hoping for the best,” Cole said, according to Dan Martin of The New York Post.

Before the injury, Cole struggled in his last outing, surrendering six runs over just 2.2 innings.

Cole described the discomfort worsening over time, saying, “As I got home, it continued to get more and more sore. Something wasn’t right… It was tough to sleep. It was alarming the next morning.”
