On the eve of free agency, Kansas City has signed its MIKE linebacker to a three-year deal worth $45 million.
“Chiefs Lock Down LB Nick Bolton with 3-Year, $45 Million Deal”
The Kansas City Chiefs are securing one of their top defensive players for the long term. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, linebacker Nick Bolton has agreed to re-sign with the Chiefs on a three-year, $45 million deal, which includes $30 million fully guaranteed at signing.
Bolton has been a key part of the Chiefs’ defense, helping them become one of the league’s top units. Over his four seasons with the team, he has led the Chiefs in tackles three times, including a standout 2024 season where he recorded 106 tackles and three sacks.
Bolton’s best season came in 2022, when he finished with 180 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions, contributing significantly to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl 57 victory. He has 31 tackles in three Super Bowl appearances, just three short of Rodney Harrison’s record of 34 tackles in four Super Bowls.
“Chiefs Make Key Moves in Free Agency, Locking Down Bolton and More”

The Kansas City Chiefs are continuing to make waves in free agency, locking in key players for the future. They recently re-signed Marquise Brown, who missed most of the season due to injury but made a strong return during the postseason. Brown’s speed will provide a big boost to their offense, complementing their already speedy receiving corps.
The Chiefs also franchise-tagged Trey Smith, with hopes of negotiating a long-term deal. After trading Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears, freeing up cap space, maintaining the strength of their offensive line has become a priority.
Despite falling short in Super Bowl 59 against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chiefs are expected to remain strong contenders next season, especially with Patrick Mahomes still leading the charge. Last season, it was their defense that truly shined, and with linebacker Nick Bolton re-signed long-term, the Chiefs’ defense should continue to dominate moving forward.
