Breaking: Ex Texas Tech QB Meets With NFL Team for Pre-Draft Visit

As the Pittsburgh Steelers evaluate their quarterback options for the 2025 season, they continue to meet with college prospects ahead of the NFL Draft in April. On Friday, the team announced a pre-draft visit with Tyler Shough, the former Texas Tech quarterback.

The 25-year-old Shough brings extensive college experience, having played for seven seasons. While NFL teams may not view him as a potential Week 1 starter, his experience and maturity make him an intriguing option. Shough’s background could give him an edge over other quarterbacks in terms of readiness to play at the professional level.

Originally from Chandler, Arizona, Shough began his collegiate career at Oregon before transferring to Texas Tech, where he played for three years. In his final season of eligibility, he finished his college career at Louisville. Over his three seasons at Texas Tech (2021-2023), Shough accumulated 2,922 yards, completing 62.4% of his passes, with 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Over the course of his college career, the 6-foot-5, 225-pound quarterback started 32 games, throwing for 7,820 yards, 59 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions, completing 63% of his passes.

In his final season at Louisville, Tyler Shough had an impressive performance, throwing for 3,195 yards, 23 touchdowns, and only six interceptions.
