Breaking News: Cincinnati Reds adds Top Talents to List of Team roster

Earlier this week, the Cincinnati Reds made seven roster cuts, and today they made another. This morning, the team announced that right-handed pitcher Josh Staumont, who is not on the 40-man roster, has been reassigned to minor league camp. With this move, the Reds now have 53 players remaining in major league camp.

During the 2024 season, Josh Staumont played for the Minnesota Twins, appearing in 25 games and pitching 24.1 innings without surrendering a home run. He recorded a 3.70 ERA but faced challenges with control, issuing 14 walks while striking out 18 batters during his time in the majors.

This spring, Josh Staumont pitched in just one game, which took place two weeks ago against the San Francisco Giants. On February 23rd, he threw a hitless inning, allowing one walk and striking out two batters. Since then, he hasn’t appeared in any games. It’s unclear if the 31-year-old wasn’t seriously in contention for a roster spot or if an unreported injury has kept him sidelined.

You can expect more roster cuts to happen every few days now. The Reds still have twice as many players in camp as they have roster spots available for the regular season. All healthy players on the 40-man roster remain in big league camp, along with more than a dozen non-roster invitees. With the regular season just 19 days away, the roster will need to be trimmed significantly.
