After aggressively bolstering their offense in 2024, the Bears are taking a more calculated approach in 2025. While their latest move may not make headlines, they are still adding a veteran wide receiver fresh off his best season. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Chicago has signed Olamide Zaccheaus.
An undrafted free agent out of Virginia, Zaccheaus avoided the typical journeyman path by spending his first four seasons with the Falcons. While he never posted standout numbers, he steadily improved each year, peaking in 2022 with 40 receptions for 533 yards.
Zaccheaus joined the Eagles for the 2023 season but struggled to establish a consistent role in their crowded receiver room. He wrapped up his lone year in Philadelphia with just 10 receptions.
Last offseason, Zaccheaus signed with the Commanders, reuniting with former Falcons head coach Dan Quinn. In Washington, he enjoyed a bounce-back year, setting a career high with 45 receptions for 506 yards and three touchdowns. He also contributed in the playoffs, adding seven catches over three games. Beyond his role as a receiver, the 27-year-old was active on special teams, returning 17 punts for 179 yards.
With Keenan Allen hitting free agency, Zaccheaus could slot in alongside D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze near the top of the depth chart. Unless the Bears make another significant move at receiver, he should have plenty of opportunities for playing time, competing primarily with Maurice Alexander, Tyler Scott, and Samori Toure for snaps.
