NFL Free Agency is in full swing as teams carefully adjust their rosters and budgets in preparation for the 2025 NFL Draft. Josh Sweat, a former Florida State standout defensive end and Super Bowl LIX Champion, was considered one of the most sought-after free agents and the top EDGE rusher available after his contract with the Philadelphia Eagles expired this offseason.
Reports indicate that Sweat will be leaving Philadelphia and heading to Glendale, AZ, signing a four-year, $76.4 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals, which includes $41 million in guaranteed money.
The 6’5″, 265-pound Pro Bowler wrapped up the 2024 season with eight sacks, 41 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and 15 quarterback hits. He also contributed 2.5 sacks in the Eagles’ dominant 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
While Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won’t have to face Sweat in 2025, depending on how the season unfolds, many other quarterbacks will certainly be keeping an eye on the imposing pass rusher from Chesapeake, VA.

Sweat will be reuniting with former Eagles defensive coordinator and current Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon, who was hired by Arizona in February 2023. Gannon served as the defensive coordinator in Philadelphia from 2021 to 2022.
A fourth-round pick from Florida State in the 2018 NFL Draft, Sweat has spent his entire career with the Eagles. Over his seven years in Philadelphia, he totaled 43 sacks, 237 tackles, one interception, seven forced fumbles, 54 tackles for loss, and 97 quarterback hits.
Other former Seminoles on the Arizona roster include running back Trey Benson and safety Jammie Robinson.
