The Los Angeles Chargers have been actively working to strengthen their roster this offseason after a disappointing exit from the playoffs in their wild card game against the Houston Texans. Their latest move focuses on bolstering their offensive line, a decision that is sure to please star quarterback Justin Herbert.
The Chargers had a strong 2024 season under head coach Jim Harbaugh, finishing with an 11-6 record and securing a playoff spot. However, their playoff run ended in a crushing 32-12 defeat to the Texans, with Herbert throwing four interceptions.
Despite the criticism aimed at Herbert following the game, Harbaugh defended his quarterback, calling the complaints “completely unfair.” He took full responsibility for the loss, emphasizing that he believed the team was as competitive as the best in the playoffs.

Recognizing the need to better protect Herbert, the Chargers have focused on improving their roster during free agency, and this effort continued on Tuesday with the announcement that they signed veteran center Andre James. Daniel Popper shared the news on X, confirming that James will be joining the Chargers’ offensive line.
Andre James spent the first six seasons of his career with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he became a key starter at center on their offensive line for the past four years. However, the Raiders released him last week to create some cap space. Justin Herbert had a strong 2024 season, passing for 3,870 yards and 23 touchdowns, which earned him an eighth-place finish in the MVP race.
Despite his impressive performance, Herbert will enter the 2025 season still searching for his first career playoff win after the devastating loss to the Houston Texans that ended his 2024 campaign.
