Fair Trade: Giants Set To Reacquire Player They Lost In A Blockbuster Trade

The Eagles announced Monday that they have signed free-agent linebacker Azeez Ojulari to a one-year contract.

The 24-year-old becomes the latest former Giants player to join Philadelphia in free agency, following linebacker Patrick Johnson and cornerback Adoree’ Jackson.

According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, the Giants received a fifth-round trade offer for Ojulari at last year’s deadline. However, general manager Joe Schoen opted to keep him, as linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux was dealing with an injury.

Ojulari was selected by the Giants in the second round of the 2021 draft and set the team’s rookie sack record with eight in his debut season. (Sacks weren’t officially recorded as a stat until 1982, a year after Lawrence Taylor’s rookie campaign, when he tallied 9 1/2 sacks.)

However, Ojulari struggled with injuries throughout his four years with the Giants. He missed 10 games in 2022 due to calf, ankle, and quad injuries, six games in 2023 with ankle and hamstring issues, and the final six games of the 2024 season because of a toe injury.
