Just in: The Ravens are potentially targeting the son of a Super Bowl champion.

Reports from Baltimore suggest the Ravens are considering bringing in Asante Samuel Jr. for a visit to potentially work out a deal. Samuel, the son of former Super Bowl champion Asante Samuel Sr., has spent the last four years with the Los Angeles Chargers after being drafted in the second round in 2021 from Florida State.

According to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, Samuel could be a solid addition to the Ravens’ secondary, especially given the limited free-agent cornerback options available.

Though Samuel’s 2023 season was cut short by a shoulder injury and he is viewed as undersized at 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, Zrebiec pointed out Samuel’s strengths in coverage and his ability to generate turnovers.

Despite concerns about his tackling, Samuel has proven himself as a strong cover corner, accumulating six interceptions and 35 pass breakups over his first three NFL seasons. This ball production could be exactly what the Ravens need in their defensive backfield.

Asante Samuel Jr. had a strong start to his career in L.A., starting 43 of the 46 games he played in over his first three seasons. He was consistently solid in pass coverage, an area where he has always excelled. However, a shoulder injury derailed his 2024 season, making him expendable to the Chargers.

At just 25 years old, Samuel still has a lot of potential at the NFL level. He remains one of the top free-agent cornerbacks available and could still command a significant contract, even late in the free-agency period.
