Florida State University has secured a commitment from 3-star legacy offensive lineman Michael Ionata, a 6’5″, 300-pound prospect from Calvary Christian in Clearwater, FL. Ionata, whose father played at FSU in the 1980s, announced his decision on social media, expressing excitement to join the Seminoles.
Ionata is the second offensive lineman to commit to FSU’s 2026 class, following three-star offensive tackle Xavier Payne. He played left tackle as a junior, helping his team advance to the Florida 2A State Playoffs. Ionata chose FSU over offers from UCF, West Virginia, Kentucky, and North Carolina.
With Ionata’s commitment, FSU’s 2026 class now ranks 15th nationally, with eight total commitments. He joins a talented group of recruits, including four-star wide receivers Efrem White and Darryon Williams, and three-star linebacker Karon Maycock, among others.
