CJ Carr earns early praise in Notre Dame football’s QB battle, proving he’s no afterthought in the race for the 2025 starting job.
There has been a lot of discussion surrounding the Notre Dame football team’s quarterback competition this year. Now that spring practice is officially underway, everyone is eager to see who will come out on top. Despite the coaching staff’s repeated statements that they won’t reveal any hints about the leader until it’s time to announce the starter, one quarterback has received strong praise from his position coach.
Gino Guidugli, one of the Notre Dame offensive assistants, spoke with the media on Friday after practice. During his appearance, he shared some interesting insights on what he’ll be looking for from the quarterbacks. One of the competitors, CJ Carr, has caught his eye. Though some might see Carr as an underdog in the race, Guidugli has been impressed with what he’s seen so far.
“I’ve got no complaints about him,” the assistant coach said during the conference. “Sometimes you worry because he’s such a fierce competitor that if something’s bothering him, he might not say anything. But when you see the ball leave his hand, it’s really impressive.”
