GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) – Catcher Jose Trevino and the Cincinnati Reds finalized a three-year contract on Thursday worth $14.925 million, securing an additional $11.5 million in guaranteed earnings.
Trevino, who was traded from the New York Yankees in December in exchange for reliever Fernando Cruz and catcher Alex Jackson, had previously agreed to a one-year, $3.425 million deal to avoid arbitration. He was set to become a free agent after the World Series.Under his new contract, Trevino will earn $5.25 million in both 2026 and 2027. The deal also includes a club option for 2028 worth $6.5 million, with a $1 million buyout.
