Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry recently made a heartfelt gesture that deeply moved South Carolina women’s basketball standout MiLaysia Fulwiley. Prior to the Warriors’ 117–114 victory over the Toronto Raptors, Curry was seen entering the Chase Center wearing a shirt featuring Fulwiley’s name and likeness.
Fulwiley, a sophomore guard for the defending NCAA champion Gamecocks, was touched by Curry’s public display of support. In an interview with Fox 57, she expressed her emotions upon seeing the gesture:
“It’s a blessing, man. When I saw it, I couldn’t really say nothing, but I almost cried, honestly,” Fulwiley said. “Just seeing how I grew up and where I come from—nobody from where I come from that would ever happen to them. I’m just proud of myself. Just keep going, trust in the process and just locking in because other great people will be on notice, like Steph.”
This connection between Curry and Fulwiley is rooted in their professional relationship; in March 2024, Fulwiley became the first collegiate athlete to sign a multi-year NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deal directly with Curry’s brand.
Following Curry’s gesture, Fulwiley delivered an impressive performance in South Carolina’s dominant 108–48 win over Tennessee Tech, contributing 15 points and five assists in just 19 minutes of play.
