Manuel Margot has reached a one-year, $1.3 million agreement with the Detroit Tigers, enhancing the team’s outfield depth, according to a source who spoke to The Associated Press on Sunday.

Margot can earn an additional $1.2 million in performance-based bonuses tied to his plate appearances, the source, who requested anonymity due to the pending physical, added.

The 30-year-old outfielder had signed a minor league contract with Milwaukee last month but was released by the Brewers on Saturday.

With outfielders Parker Meadows and Matt Vierling injured, the Tigers were in need of additional outfield help as they prepare to play the Los Angeles Dodgers on opening day Thursday.

Last season, Margot hit .238 with a .289 on-base percentage, four home runs, 31 RBIs, and five steals in 129 games for Minnesota. He played all three outfield positions during his only year with the Twins.

Margot debuted in the majors with San Diego in 2016 and has a career .254 batting average with 56 home runs and 314 RBIs across 917 games, also spending four seasons with Tampa Bay.
