It pays to be good.!! Chargers’ Strengthens depth with the Re-signing of another top-notch weapon

Tony Jefferson chipped in 27 tackles and 1 tackle for loss in four starts for the Chargers after coming out of retirement.

The Chargers are keeping their core group of safeties intact after re-signing veteran Tony Jefferson to a one-year contract. The former Cardinals and Ravens safety came out of retirement ahead of the 2024 season and delivered some of his best performances late in the season, stepping in for the injured Elijah Molden.

Jefferson wrapped up the 2024 season with 27 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and four starts in eight games played. Alongside starters Derwin James and Alohi Gilman, the trio helped maintain one of the NFL’s top safety units after Elijah Molden’s injury in Week 15 against the Buccaneers.

Jefferson will return to Los Angeles for another year, continuing to offer his valuable experience to a group of players either in their prime or just beginning to reach their potential in the NFL.

For the Chargers to improve in 2025, it’s a major advantage that this position group will stay intact, allowing them to build on the chemistry they established this past season.
