Red Wings Set To Confirm Another Power-Threat player to $52.5 Million, seven-years Blockbuster Deal

The Detroit Red Wings could be among the more active teams in free agency this summer, as they have fallen out of the playoff race. With the season winding down, general manager Steve Yzerman is likely to focus on improving the roster. According to PuckPedia’s PuckGM tool, one user predicted the Red Wings would sign Brock Boeser to a seven-year, $52.5 million deal, paying him $7.5 million per season.

Signing Boeser makes sense for Detroit, as he is a step below top-tier players like Mitch Marner and Nikolaj Ehlers, and would come at a more affordable price. He could also replace Patrick Kane’s offensive contributions if the future Hall of Famer leaves Detroit in free agency. Boeser, 28, would be a strong addition to the Red Wings’ top-six forwards, and his age aligns with the team’s push to compete in the near future. Currently in the final year of a three-year, $19.95 million contract paying him $6.65 million per season, a $7.5 million deal seems reasonable.

Boeser, currently playing for the Vancouver Canucks, has recorded 23 goals and 21 assists for 44 points in 63 games this season. Although Boeser’s name came up in trade discussions due to his pending free agency, the Canucks opted to keep him and have continued extension talks. Vancouver general manager Patrick Allvin confirmed these discussions, leaving the door open for Boeser to return next season.

Boeser himself expressed his love for Vancouver in an interview, stating he was open to re-signing but also frustrated that nothing had been finalized yet. He emphasized his desire to continue contributing to the team’s success, focusing on helping them win games.

As for the Red Wings, despite battling for a playoff spot, they are unlikely to make the postseason this year. If they miss the playoffs, Yzerman has committed to being aggressive in the offseason to add talent and build a contender. He expressed his dedication to making decisions that benefit the team both in the short and long term, with the ultimate goal of bringing a Stanley Cup back to Detroit.
