“Virginia Tech Football Earns Spot in Top 8 for Class of 2026 Three-Star Linebacker”Report

The Hokies are in the running for a linebacker in the Class of 2026 from North Carolina.

Currently, in the Class of 2026, Virginia Tech football has one commitment from wide receiver Carnell Warren from South Carolina, who pledged in February at the Under Armour Next All-American Game. The Hokies also had a commitment last June from quarterback Peyton Falzone of Nazareth, Pa., but he de-committed in the fall and reopened his recruitment.

Recently, Virginia Tech made the Top 8 for safety D’Various Surratt, and now they’ve made the Top 8 again for a defensive player in the Class of 2026. Warren seems to be actively recruiting for a potential new teammate.

Virginia Tech makes Top 8 for linebacker Caleb Gordon
Linebacker Caleb Gordon from North Carolina revealed his Top 8 schools, with Virginia Tech joining three other ACC teams: Georgia Tech, Virginia, and Clemson. He received an offer from North Carolina last fall under former coach Mack Brown, before the team hired Bill Belichick. The 6-foot-0, 215-pound three-star recruit, according to 247Sports, has scheduled visits for May 30 at Clemson, June 19 at Virginia, and June 13 at Liberty. Virginia Tech extended an offer to him last fall.

On social media, Warren shared Gordon’s tweet and commented, “I see something I like.”

It’s likely that Virginia Tech’s new defensive coordinator, Sam Siefkes, along with Shawn Quinn, will play a role in Gordon’s recruitment. Siefkes has a background working with linebackers at the Arizona Cardinals, making it reasonable to expect his involvement, alongside Brent Pry, and potentially Warren as well.

While Gordon’s recruitment is still ongoing, having Virginia Tech in the mix is a positive sign, though there’s still work to be done. Linebacker is an important position for the future, and securing Gordon would be a significant addition for the Hokies.
