Major Report: Kentucky football is targeting this 2027 in-state Hard-nosed tight end to Bolster Depth

Class of 2027 tight end Seneca Driver is just a short distance from Lexington. The 6-foot-7, 225-pound Boyle County tight end may not have a ranking or stars on 247Sports yet, but that hasn’t stopped over 25 programs from showing interest in him early. Now, both On3 and Rivals have awarded him 4 stars, and it’s clear why—he’s already making an impact at Boyle County in Danville.

Mark Stoops has been focused on building depth for the future of the program, and Driver is already on the move this spring, with recent visits to South Bend to check out Notre Dame, Lexington to meet with the Kentucky Wildcats, and Rocky Top to see Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Volunteers.

Boyle County has a history of producing top-tier talent, especially at the tight end position, and Driver is quickly showing signs of becoming the next standout recruit developed by the Rebels. Notable offers on his growing list include Kentucky, Alabama, Michigan, Texas, Tennessee, Penn State, and Duke.

Early indications suggest that Kentucky and Notre Dame are the two programs to watch closely in his recruitment. The Driver name holds significance for both schools: Seneca’s father, Randy Driver, played safety at Kentucky, while his uncle, Tony Driver, was a running back for Notre Dame in the late ’90s.

Though it’s still early in the process, Kentucky is working hard to keep Driver in-state. His film reveals a high ceiling as a versatile player—he’s a tight end with defensive end skills, making him a powerhouse for Boyle County. His ability to make tough catches also stands out consistently.

In addition to his football skills, Driver’s success as a basketball player further boosts his athletic profile. He’s been busy with visits, but UKWildcatsWire caught up with him after his trip to Lexington. He shared his thoughts on the visit and how it affects his recruitment: “It was good to see the facilities. They are nice. Kentucky has done a great job showing they want me and will be in the race. Coach Marrow is cool.”

Driver has already visited Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Kentucky recently, with upcoming trips planned to Alabama and Auburn.

While this recruitment may not yet be among the top ones in Kentucky, it has all the ingredients for a fierce competition for one of the nation’s top future tight ends. Driver explained what he values most in evaluating programs: “I’m looking for a family atmosphere and a place that uses and develops tight ends.”

The Kentucky legacy is sure to play a role in his recruitment, but the Wildcats are working diligently to ensure they can keep this blue-chip talent in the Bluegrass.
