The Baltimore Orioles return to action on Friday as they face off against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. After dropping their last two games to the Boston Red Sox, the Orioles are aiming to rebound. So far, the 2025 season has been somewhat disappointing for Baltimore, who currently sit at the bottom of the AL East with a 3-4 record. However, the team is getting a timely boost to their lineup. On Friday afternoon, the Orioles announced that star infielder Gunnar Henderson has been activated from the 10-day injured list—just in time to help them try to turn things around.
Gunnar Henderson, 23, is set to make his return to the Orioles’ lineup after missing the first week of the season with an intercostal strain sustained during Spring Training. The Montgomery, Alabama native rejoining the team is a major lift for Baltimore. Henderson is coming off a stellar 2024 campaign in which he posted career-best numbers: 31 doubles, 37 home runs, 92 RBIs, and a .281 batting average—earning him a well-deserved spot in his first All-Star Game.

His return couldn’t come at a better time for the Orioles, who are looking to regain momentum. Over the course of his three-season MLB career, the 2022 AL Rookie of the Year has tallied 69 home runs, 192 RBIs, and a .268 batting average across 343 games. With Henderson back in the mix, the Orioles will be hoping for a spark as they aim to climb the AL East standings.
