Jesse Chavez is back with the Atlanta Braves for the second time this season, rejoining the organization on a minor league contract, per the team’s official transaction log. The 41-year-old veteran right-hander became a free agent after being designated for assignment following his 2024 season debut against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Chavez initially signed with the Braves late in Spring Training after being released by the Texas Rangers. Though he didn’t make the Opening Day roster, he was called up after Hector Neris was designated for assignment following two rough appearances.

In his lone outing this season on March 31, Chavez threw two innings and gave up a home run. He was designated for assignment shortly after to make room for Zach Thompson, a fresh arm for the bullpen.
Now in his 18th MLB season, Chavez made his debut in 2008 and first joined the Braves in 2010. He’s been a regular presence on the team since 2021, appearing in 46 games for Atlanta last year.
