How about starting your Saturday morning with a transfer portal commitment?
That’s exactly what Kentucky Wildcat fans received as Mark Pope and his team secured a point guard for the upcoming season.
As reported by Travis Branham of 247 Sports, Jaland Lowe, a transfer point guard from Pittsburgh, has committed to Kentucky. Lowe will also continue his NBA Draft process and has two years of eligibility left.
Lowe, a 6-3, 175-pound guard from Missouri City, Texas, had a standout season with the Panthers. Earning third-team All-ACC honors, he showcased his skills as one of the top playmakers in the country, boasting a strong assist rate.
He finished the season averaging 16.8 points per game, shooting 37.6% from the field and 27% from beyond the arc. In addition, Lowe contributed 5.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game.
While his shooting numbers may not be eye-catching, his impressive free throw percentage (88%) suggests that with the right system, his jump shot could improve. Both Lowe and the UK staff are likely banking on this potential. With his playmaking ability and plenty of shooters around him in Lexington, his fit seems promising.

This commitment comes at a crucial time for the Wildcats, who have faced several setbacks with their top targets. Now, they have a key addition to their roster.
Coach Pope and his team will now shift their focus to recruits Jaron Pierre, Alvaro Folgueiras, and Mackenzie Mgbako, as they aim to land all three.
Lowe joins Kam Williams as the second transfer to commit during this portal cycle.
The Wildcats now have their point guard. Time to celebrate.
Welcome to the BBN, Jaland!
