Packers Fans Breath Easy As They Received Good News Signing Of Another Hard-Nosed Weapon

The Green Bay Packers have made a few significant moves in NFL free agency this offseason, one of which was signing former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Nate Hobbs.

To secure Hobbs, the Packers offered him a four-year, $48 million contract. It’s a hefty deal, but Hobbs is expected to play a crucial role for Green Bay in 2025.

Although Hobbs’ signing didn’t grab much attention initially, it could prove to be a major win for the Packers.

That being said, one NFL executive has shared a bold opinion about the 25-year-old defensive back.

Mike Sando of The Athletic spoke with several NFL executives about the moves made during free agency, and one executive had high praise for Nate Hobbs, the Packers’ new defensive back.

“Hobbs will help them,” the executive said. “He’s not going to be a prima donna like Jaire Alexander. He’s going to come in and play hard, and that’s going to be big for them. His mentality is solid. He’s also a versatile nickel guy—a tough, physical piece who the defensive coordinator can move around and use in different ways.”

In the 2024 NFL season with the Raiders, Hobbs appeared in 11 games, recording 49 tackles, an interception, and five defended passes.

It’ll be intriguing to see what Hobbs brings to the Packers in 2025. Additionally, it will be interesting to watch whether Green Bay decides to move on from Alexander or bring him back for another season.

Overall, expect the Packers to get a strong return from Hobbs. He’s a skilled player who should bolster their secondary moving forward.
