Report: Wildcats Key Weapon Found New Home With SEC rival In a Blockbuster Bridged Deal

Kentucky transfer Kerr Kriisa reveals commitment

Kentucky had a strong first season under Mark Pope, reaching the Sweet 16 before falling to SEC rival Tennessee. After Pope’s arrival from BYU, the Wildcats made several key additions through the transfer portal, which contributed to their successful run. However, we are now entering the period where teams will also see players depart via the portal.

This is the case in Lexington, as guard Kerr Kriisa recently announced he would be entering the transfer portal. On Sunday, it was confirmed that Kriisa will be returning to the Big 12 to play for Wes Miller at Cincinnati.

Kriisa appeared in just 9 games for Kentucky this season, averaging 4.4 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game. Prior to Kentucky, he spent the 2023-24 season at West Virginia in the Big 12, where he played a significant role for the Mountaineers.

He averaged 11.0 points and 4.7 assists per game while shooting 42.4% from three-point range. Like his time at Kentucky, his stay at West Virginia was also only for one year.

Kriisa’s most notable experience came during his first three seasons at Arizona, where he played 76 games and averaged nearly 10 points per game, contributing to successful NCAA Tournament runs.

Now back in the Big 12, Kriisa will have the opportunity to face both West Virginia and Arizona next season.
