Virginia Tech Lands 2026 Kicker Will Love, Brother of Hokies Star John Love
Virginia Tech football added its second commitment to the 2026 recruiting class on Sunday, as kicker Will Love pledged to the Hokies, choosing them over Wake Forest, North Carolina, Georgia, and others. The Spartanburg (S.C.) High School standout will be a senior this fall and is the younger brother of current Hokies kicker John Love.
Will’s decision continues a growing theme in Brent Pry’s recruiting approach—building a “family” culture in Blacksburg. Over the past couple of seasons, Virginia Tech has welcomed several younger siblings of current or former players. While not every case has followed that trend—like former Hokie cornerback Mansoor Delane, whose younger brother committed to Ohio State—special teams looks set to continue the family tradition.
John Love has been a reliable and powerful leg for the Hokies. He nailed a 57-yard field goal against Miami last September and booted a 60-yarder in tough weather during the Duke’s Mayo Bowl loss to Minnesota. With Will now set to follow in his footsteps, Virginia Tech is positioning itself to remain strong in the kicking game for years to come.
This commitment gives Coach Pry his second for the Class of 2026, joining wide receiver Carnell Warren, who also hails from South Carolina and committed in February. Virginia Tech had previously secured a commitment from quarterback Peyton Falzone, but he de-committed in November and announced his pledge to Penn State on Saturday night.
Despite the loss of Falzone, Pry and his staff are building momentum early in the 2026 cycle. Will Love’s commitment not only adds talent to a key position, but it also reinforces the family-first culture that Pry continues to cultivate in the program
