The Giants clearly missed out on landing Aaron Rodgers.
After growing impatient with the 41-year-old veteran, they opted to go with Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and potentially a quarterback from the 2025 NFL Draft instead.
That doesn’t mean the Giants weren’t interested.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show Thursday, Rodgers — still a free agent — shared that he had a “great conversation” with Giants head coach Brian Daboll at the peak of his free agency buzz.
Rodgers mentioned, “I’m not going to get into specifics about every team I talked to,” but added, “It was a few teams. I did speak with Brian Daboll and had a great conversation with him. I really enjoyed it. He’s a lot of fun to talk to and has an incredible football mind. He worked with Josh [Allen] in Buffalo, and Josh is one of my closest friends in the league. I just enjoyed the discussions. He’s a really sharp football mind.”
Rodgers joining the Giants is a captivating “what if.” Despite the Jets’ disappointing 5-12 record last season, the four-time MVP still had an impressive performance, ranking eighth in passing yards (3,897) and passing touchdowns (28). He would have undoubtedly been the best quarterback Giants fans have witnessed in many years.
However, it’s likely he’ll end up with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who made a big move this offseason by trading for star wide receiver DK Metcalf, or he could decide to retire from football entirely. Only time will tell how this thrilling saga unfolds.
