Buffalo Bills officially re-signed Another Hard-nosed safety on a one-year contract extension

Damar Hamlin Re-Signs with Bills, Eager to Build on Breakout Year

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin officially re-signed with the team on Thursday, following a breakout 2024 season in which he started 14 games. Calling Buffalo his “home,” Hamlin expressed how deeply connected he feels to the franchise.

“It feels amazing to be back,” he said. “This is all I know as a pro. I’m tied to this place on a whole different level, and I’d love to spend my entire career here.”

Hamlin proved to be a key contributor on defense, ranking third in total tackles (89) and tying for the team lead with two interceptions. His first career pick came under the Monday night lights in Week 3 against the Jaguars. He also made a game-changing play in the playoffs, forcing a fumble on Ravens QB Lamar Jackson that led to a touchdown in the Divisional Round.

Less than two years after suffering cardiac arrest in 2023, Hamlin returned to the field with determination and pride in his journey.

“Last year felt like taking the training wheels off,” Hamlin said. “Going from nearly dying on the field to starting a full season—it was big for me. Now I want to take that momentum and see how far I can go this year. I’m excited for the growth ahead.”
