Just In: Virginia Tech Hokies Land Commitment For Pick Up Second Class of 2026

So far in the Class of 2026, Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry has secured just one commitment — wide receiver Carnell Warren from South Carolina, who pledged in February. The Hokies had previously received a commitment from quarterback Peyton Falzone, but he de-committed in November and committed to James Franklin and Penn State on Saturday night.

In recent recruiting cycles, one trend under Brent Pry has been creating a “family” environment at Virginia Tech, with younger siblings following their older brothers to Blacksburg. However, that hasn’t always worked out — for example, former Hokies cornerback Mansoor Delane, who transferred to LSU this past winter, had a younger brother that Tech prioritized but who ultimately committed to Ohio State. That said, the special teams unit appears to be an exception and will continue to reflect that family dynamic moving forward.

Virginia Tech football gets commitment from kicker Will Love

In recent years, Brent Pry has consistently held an edge on special teams, particularly in the kicking game. Punter Peter Moore boasted one of the strongest legs in the ACC, reliably flipping field position when needed. Meanwhile, kicker John Love has been remarkably dependable, delivering on nearly every field goal attempt.

John Love demonstrated the strength of his leg last September against Miami, drilling a 57-yard field goal in a loss. He followed that up with an even more impressive kick in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, closing out the first half with a 60-yard field goal despite less-than-ideal weather conditions in a 24-10 loss to Minnesota. Now, in two years, he’ll be joined in Blacksburg by his younger brother.

Will Love, a rising senior at Spartanburg High School in South Carolina, announced his commitment to Virginia Tech on Sunday morning. He chose the Hokies over offers from Wake Forest, North Carolina, Georgia, and several others. Ultimately, family ties played a key role in his decision, giving Brent Pry another strong addition to the kicking game with yet another powerful leg.
