The Hokies picked up a second commitment in as many days.
The weekend kicked off with Virginia Tech’s Spring Game and a large number of campus visitors. At that point, head coach Brent Pry had just one commitment for the 2026 recruiting class — wide receiver Carnell Warren from South Carolina, who pledged back in February.
By Sunday, Pry secured a second recruit when kicker Will Love, the younger brother of current Hokie John Love, announced his commitment. Then on Monday, Virginia Tech landed its first in-state commitment for the 2026 class, marking another big win.
Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry secured his first defensive commitment for the 2026 class when linebacker Joshua Pittman from Suffolk, Virginia, chose the Hokies. Pittman picked Tech over several programs, including Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Michigan State, and Indiana, after recent visits to Wake Forest and North Carolina.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, Pittman is expected to play either inside or outside linebacker. He’s known for his ability to pressure the quarterback and defend the run effectively. An official visit is set for May.
With a talented wide receiver, a kicker, and now a linebacker committed, Virginia Tech is off to a solid start with the 2026 class. The coming months will be important, as more prospects are scheduled to visit campus and recruiting activity ramps up heading into summer. As spring progresses, expect more commitments, with top targets planning visits in May and June. While there’s still a lot of ground to cover, the early momentum is promising for the Hokies.
