What’s Jett Williams up to?
After spending 2023 primarily in the outfield across various levels of the Mets’ system, including 11 games in the Arizona Fall League, Jett Williams has begun the 2025 season firmly entrenched in the infield. The 21-year-old is splitting time between shortstop and second base for Double-A Binghamton, and he’s been solid at the plate. Through 25 at-bats, he’s batting .240 with a .736 OPS, including one home run, three RBIs, and three extra-base hits among his six total. He’s also reached base in five of his first seven games.
While it’s still early, Williams is off to a promising start for one of the Mets’ top prospects. His quick bat and defensive flexibility provide him with multiple ways to contribute. For now, it’s about getting reps and settling into a rhythm, and so far, he’s ticking all the right boxes. Ronny Mauricio will begin his rehab assignment
Ronny Mauricio made his return to game action on Tuesday, marking his first appearance since tearing his ACL in December 2023 while playing in winter ball. The 24-year-old infielder, who missed the entire 2024 season following surgery and a second procedure in August to remove scar tissue, made his rehab debut as the designated hitter for the Florida Complex League. While the Mets are carefully managing his return, this appearance represents an important step in his recovery process.
In his 26-game stint with the Mets in 2023, Mauricio posted a .248 batting average and a .643 OPS, with six extra-base hits and nine RBIs across 101 at-bats. However, he struggled with strikeouts, racking up 31. While his numbers weren’t extraordinary, he showed glimpses of his potential. Before his injury, Mauricio had been on a tear in winter ball, hitting .441 with a 1.178 OPS.
