Three Former Utah Women’s Basketball Players Set for 2024 Paris Olympics

In a historic moment, Canada’s inaugural 3X3 basketball team to qualify for the Olympics will boast three esteemed former players from the University of Utah.

Among them are Michelle Plouffe (2010-2014), Paige Crozon (2012-2016), and Kim (Smith) Gaucher (2002-2006), all renowned alumni of the university’s basketball program. These three athletes will headline Canada’s 3X3 team at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.

Gaucher, now serving as the team’s head coach, leads the charge, supported by talents on the court including Plouffe, her twin sister Katherine, Crozon, and

Kacie Bosch.

The Pac-12 introduced its inaugural all-female Hall of Honor class in 2023, marking 50 years of Title IX, and Kim (Smith) Gaucher, a standout figure in Utah women’s basketball, secured her place among the inductees.

Gaucher, alongside 11 other distinguished individuals, received recognition during a special ceremony on March 3, 2023, at the Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament. The 2023 class was further celebrated during halftime of the first semifinal match at the Michelob Ultra Arena, situated within the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

The establishment of the Hall of Honor commemorates the storied legacy of the Conference of Champions, with the Pac-12 leading all conferences with 546 national titles across 29 sports, surpassing its counterparts by over 200 titles.

Paige Crozon’s Endeavors Beyond the Court

Following her tenure at Utah and embarking on her professional basketball journey, Paige Crozon has a multifaceted story

 

 

In addition to gearing up for the 2024 Olympics, Crozon dedicates her time to coaching within Living Skies, a basketball league aimed at providing Indigenous Canadian youth with opportunities to engage in the sport free of charge.

Balancing these commitments, Crozon also fulfills the role of a single mother to her four-year-old daughter, Poppy, who eagerly anticipates witnessing her mother’s participation in the upcoming Olympics.
