No Virginia Tech football player was chosen during the recent 2024 NFL draft, but several quickly secured positions thereafter. Norell Pollard, a defensive tackle, inked a contract with the Washington Commanders, while Pheldarius Payne, another DT, reached an agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Mario Kendricks, another of Tech’s defensive tackles, underwent a trial with the Kansas City Chiefs, and Cole Beck, a wide receiver/kick returner, tried out with the Falcons and Jets.
Kendricks didn’t wait long to secure employment, as he signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins. His three-year deal entails participating in the Dolphins’ training camp, where he’ll vie for a spot on the roster. With Miami losing starting defensive tackle Christian Wilkins in free agency, they could be seeking interior assistance.
Originally a three-star recruit from Osceola High School (Florida), Kendricks spent five seasons at Virginia Tech. Throughout his tenure, Kendricks featured in 56 games for the Hokies, making 20 starts. He wrapped up his collegiate career with 67 tackles, including 17 for loss, and seven sacks.
