Aliyah Boston, the standout from South Carolina, matched her career-best performance with top notch points for the WNBA’s Indiana Fever.

Indiana Fever forward and former standout of South Carolina women’s basketball, Aliyah Boston, equaled her highest career points in a 91-84 victory over the Atlanta Dream (5-6) on Thursday.

Boston notched 27 points alongside 13 rebounds and two assists for the Fever (4-10), marking her fifth double-double of the 2024 season. Across 14 games, Boston holds averages of 11.8 points and 7.4 rebounds.

During Thursday’s game, Boston faced off against former Gamecocks Allisha Gray and Laeticia Amihere. Gray contributed 12 points and five rebounds in the match, while Amihere remained scoreless during her three-minute appearance.

Selected as the No. 1 pick in the 2023 WNBA draft by the Fever, Boston clinched the Rookie of the Year title in 2023, tallying 14.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. Throughout 40 games, she recorded 11 double-doubles, including a 27-point performance against the Dallas Wings on Sept. 1.

 

 

This season, Boston faced off against another Gamecocks basketball luminary, A’ja Wilson, during the Las Vegas Aces’ victory over the Fever on May 25. Wilson delivered an impressive performance with 29 points and 15 rebounds, while Boston contributed 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Kamilla Cardoso, the sole WNBA draft pick from South Carolina in the 2024 class, will meet Boston for the second time on Sunday as the Chicago Sky visit Indiana. Cardoso made her WNBA debut against Boston and the Fever.

The anticipated rematch between former Iowa star Caitlin Clark and Boston against Cardoso and former LSU star Angel Reese is scheduled for noon on Sunday.
