Many of Indiana’s 2026 recruiting targets ranked high in the 247Sports’ player ratings update.
Today, the 247Sports.com national team updated their rankings for 2026 basketball players, with a focus on Indiana Hoosiers recruits. In the current recruiting landscape, rising juniors receive less attention compared to the past, but colleges are increasingly targeting this class in recent months.
The updated rankings highlight Tyran Stokes as the new No. 1 player. Stokes has strong ties to Indiana, stemming from his time in Louisville during his younger years. Despite his impressive skills, securing him will be a challenging task for the Hoosiers.
Anthony Thompson of Indiana Elite has made a significant leap, going from unranked to the No. 11 prospect nationally. This rise is reminiscent of local standout Xavier Booker, though Booker achieved it as a senior rather than a junior. Thompson’s left-handed finesse and potential are evident from his performances this spring.
Indiana’s long-standing recruits include Taylen Kinney (No. 26), Jonathan Sanderson (No. 52), and Jayden Johnson (No. 57), alongside Stokes. Kinney has climbed 30 spots, while Sanderson and Johnson have maintained their positions.
Recently, Indiana has shown interest in No. 8 Jordan Smith, a talented shooting guard from Paul VI in the DMV area. Known for his athleticism and competitiveness, Smith excels playing for Team Takeover in the Nike EYBL’s 17U league.
The lone native Hoosier in the rankings, Steven Reynolds III, holds the No. 67 spot. Hailing from South Bend, Reynolds participated in the USA Basketball U17 tryouts recently and remains a target for Notre Dame and Purdue, who are actively recruiting him.
