Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry picked up a second commitment from a Class of 2025 edge in less than a week when Sherrod Henderson committed to the Hokies Sunday.
Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry has had an exceptionally successful month in recruiting, with the latest commitment marking another significant milestone. Zeke Chinwike from Green Run committed just six days ago, and now Sherrod Henderson from Rocky Point, NC, has also pledged to join the Hokies in the Class of 2025.
Henderson, a three-star prospect, chose Virginia Tech over several other notable programs including Virginia, Pittsburgh, and Duke. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 210 pounds, he is ranked as the 20th best player in North Carolina by 247Sports.
During his junior season at Heide Trask High School, Henderson showcased his skills both defensively and offensively, tallying 75 tackles, 12 sacks, and 15 tackles for loss. On offense, he rushed for over 1,000 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. Beyond football, Henderson is also recognized for his abilities on the basketball court.
With Henderson’s commitment, Virginia Tech secures another promising edge rusher alongside Chinwike for the Class of 2025. The Hokies have been actively strengthening their defense with commitments from linebacker Brett Clatterbaugh, safety Sheldon Robinson, defensive lineman Christian Evans, cornerback Knahlij Harrell, and linebacker Noah Chambers.
Virginia Tech’s recruiting efforts in the Class of 2025 have been notable, primarily focusing on three-star recruits, with Clatterbaugh being one of the few four-star prospects. There’s anticipation that more recruits in this class could see their ratings rise to four stars by the time they join the campus. Looking ahead, the Class of 2026 has also shown promise with quarterback Peyton Falzone committing recently, further enhancing the Hokies’ future prospects.
