Texas Tech secured a commitment from Michael Dever, a 2025 receiver, who announced his decision on social media Thursday, switching his commitment from Colorado State to the Red Raiders. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound recruit from Lubbock Cooper High School opted to stay local and play for Texas Tech, despite reported offers from Colorado State, North Texas, and Texas State.
Dever, who also excels in track and field, notably finishing sixth in the state high jump with a height of 6-foot-2, had a standout season at Lubbock Cooper, catching 40 passes for 672 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns.
He joins a robust receiver lineup for Texas Tech’s 2025 recruiting class, which includes Tristian Gentry from Stephenville (TX), Bryson Jones from Frisco (TX) Lone Star, and Leyton Stone from Wolfforth (TX) Frenship. Dever’s commitment marks the 17th overall pledge for the class, which currently ranks 30th nationally and fifth in the Big 12.
Head coach Joey McGuire outlined plans to recruit between 18 and 20 high school players for the 2025 class, aiming to balance and strengthen the team’s roster composition, particularly focusing on building depth in pivotal positions like offensive and defensive lines.
