Harris is set to become the inaugural Virginia team member hailing from Michigan.

Virginia’s 2025 recruiting class expanded with the addition of three-star offensive tackle Jim Harris Jr. on Monday. Hailing from Muskegon High School, the 6-foot-5, 285-pound Harris is ranked 21st overall in Michigan and 75th nationally among tackles by 24/7sports. His commitment marks him as the sole Michigan native on Virginia’s roster upon enrollment. Harris had received offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt, and other universities.

Joining three-star recruits Jon Adair and Grayson Reid, Harris becomes the third offensive lineman to commit to Virginia’s 2025 class. During his official visit on June 14, he connected with Adair, Reid, and wide receiver commit Dillon Newton-Short, all of whom played key roles in influencing his decision according to an interview with 24/7sports.

In his junior season, Harris contributed significantly with 41 knockdown blocks and 16 blocks leading to touchdowns over 12 games. His efforts were pivotal in Muskegon High School’s achievement of 5,400 total offensive yards and a Division 2 state championship, their first since 2017.
