Quandre Diggs has signed a one-year contract with AFC South team.
Former defensive lineman Damon “Snacks” Harrison recently used social media to urge Diggs to return to Detroit, the team that drafted him nine years ago. Harrison posted, “Nino to Detroit is the only news we need right now… and he should bring his old secondary teammate along too.”
In 2015, the Lions drafted Diggs as the 200th overall pick in the fifth round. He quickly rose to become a key locker room leader and a valuable asset in the secondary. Although he received a three-year extension, his relationship with then-head coach Matt Patricia deteriorated.
Currently, Lions general manager Brad Holmes is relying on a group of young safeties—Brian Branch, Kerby Joseph, and Ifeatu Melifonwu—to excel in Aaron Glenn’s defense this season. These safeties complement each other well and have the potential to generate turnovers. Joseph, in particular, aims to lead the NFL in interceptions in 2024.
