South Carolina football beats out SEC foe to land talented Alabama linebacker following…

On Saturday, South Carolina secured a verbal commitment from Keenan Britt, a junior linebacker from Oxford High School in Alabama. Britt chose the Gamecocks over other Southeastern Conference schools, including Auburn, where his brother KJ played from 2017-20 and now plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Keenan, who made three unofficial visits to Auburn, ultimately decided on South Carolina after the Gamecocks extended an early offer last month and he visited their campus at the end of July. Other schools that were interested included Oregon, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

Britt had previously interacted with Darren Uscher, the new USC director of player personnel and recruiting, during Uscher’s time at Oregon. During his campus visit, Britt met with USC coach Shane Beamer, defensive coordinator Clayton White, and others.

He expressed his enthusiasm about the campus and discussed his potential role in the Gamecocks’ defense with Coach Beamer and Coach White. Britt also had the chance to meet with several USC players, including Robby Ashford, Vicari Swain, and Debo Williams.

Ranked as the 25th-best linebacker nationally and the 13th-best prospect from Alabama for the Class of 2026 by 247Sports Composite, Britt, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 230 pounds, had an impressive sophomore season with 107 tackles, eight sacks, 20 tackles for loss, 20 quarterback hits, and two forced fumbles despite missing two games.
