The Detroit Lions are reportedly adding another linebacker to their roster. Due to recent injuries, the Lions have made several roster moves. Here’s a brief summary:
– Signed OT Jamarco Jones
– Signed LB Abraham Beauplan
– Waived/injured OL Connor Galvin
– Placed DL Nate Lynn on injured reserve
Beauplan, who is entering his second year after going undrafted last year, previously signed with the Minnesota Vikings. He was waived due to an injury sustained during the preseason, though he was later re-signed to a futures contract at the beginning of 2024 before being released recently.
During his college career at Marshall, Beauplan started for three seasons and accumulated 218 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, an interception, and five forced fumbles.
At 6-foot-2 and 235 pounds, Beauplan adds depth to Detroit’s off-ball linebacker group and could be a candidate for the SAM linebacker position. The Lions are currently light at SAM after reassigning Mathieu Betts and with Nate Lynn’s season-ending injury from Thursday’s preseason game.
Beauplan will need to quickly adjust if he hopes to secure a spot on the 53-man roster, as the Lions have only two preseason games remaining and the regular season begins in four weeks.
