REPORT: Miami Hurricanes get coveted Three key recruited defensive tackles in transfer portal bolstering their main need on their roster

The Miami Hurricanes bolstered a key position on Friday by securing a commitment from former Michigan State starter Simeon Barrow Jr., a standout defensive tackle from the transfer portal. Barrow, who had a notable season with Michigan State, brings significant experience, having appeared in 12 games and starting 10, tallying 36 tackles, including 5.5 for loss, and 3.5 sacks. He earned honorable mention All-Big 10 recognition. Over three seasons at Michigan State, Barrow amassed impressive stats, recording 110 tackles, 18.5 for loss, 10.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

He was heavily pursued by other schools like LSU, Missouri, FSU, and Texas but ultimately chose Miami due to the positive experience during his visit and the coaching staff’s potential to support his growth, notably co-defensive line coach Jason Taylor. Miami faced a pressing need for defensive tackles following recent departures, but with Barrow’s addition, they now have a solid lineup, complemented by other experienced players and promising recruits joining the team.

In addition to Barrow, Miami has made significant acquisitions in the transfer portal, enhancing their roster across various positions. Although they missed out on one target, Tyler Baron, they remain in contention for Barrow, recognizing the potential for further improvements, particularly at edge rusher, safety, and cornerback positions. Overall, Miami’s roster is notably stronger compared to the previous week.
