Just In: Florida State confirms another blockbuster deal sign of a talented player from a good team

The Seminoles have landed one of the top running backs in the country over Wisconsin, Miami, and Georgia.

It’s clear that Florida State could use some positive news after finally ending their winless streak in the 2024 season. On Saturday evening, they celebrated a victory against Cal, and in addition, they made a significant gain on the recruiting front.

According to his social media, four-star running back Byron Louis has chosen to commit to FSU, selecting them over Wisconsin, Miami, and Georgia. This is an important acquisition for the Seminoles, as Louis has been a highly sought-after prospect for some time.

The Florida native was one of the last uncommitted targets on a limited recruiting list. He made his final official visit to Tallahassee in late June, also touring the campuses of the Badgers, Hurricanes, and Bulldogs. Louis developed a strong rapport with head coach Mike Norvell, running backs coach David Johnson, and several other staff members.

What stands out to me about Florida State is that, while you expect them to pursue you, it’s essential to genuinely want to be here. You need to be eager to learn from the coaches, be a team player, and strive to be your best self. As Louis mentioned to NoleGameday, Coach Norvell emphasizes that if you’re not willing to be the best teammate and person, then this isn’t the place for you. He believes this is crucial because not everyone gets the opportunity to wear the garnet and gold.

Louis is having a strong senior season, with 65 carries for 466 yards and four touchdowns, along with ten receptions for 109 yards and another score. He has already surpassed 100 rushing yards in two games, after achieving that five times last year. His impressive 2023 season included 160 carries for 1,224 yards and 18 touchdowns, helping American Heritage make a deep playoff run.

The Seminoles are also targeting four-star running back Ousmane Kromah, who will be visiting this weekend. Kromah plans to announce his decision on September 28, with FSU, Auburn, Georgia, and Tennessee competing for his commitment.

With Louis’s addition, Florida State now has 12 verbal commitments in its 2025 class, which ranks No. 29 nationally. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back is rated as the No. 221 overall prospect, No. 17 RB, and No. 35 recruit in Florida for the 2025 class according to 247Sports.
