Good News: USC commits another talented player from a good team

USC’s 2024 recruiting class has been slow to gain traction lately, but the 2026 class is seeing new commitments, including Ja’Myron Baker. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect was among the first to receive an offer from USC last summer and has been strengthening his relationship with head coach Lincoln Riley and the coaching staff since then.

Baker suffered an offseason injury and hasn’t played high school football this season, but he emphasized that it didn’t influence his decision to commit early. “That was a non-factor, to be honest,” Baker said. “I chose USC now because I knew it was where I wanted to be. The coaches have shown loyalty to me, and that means a lot.”

The 2026 athlete had offers from several Power Five schools, including UCLA, Colorado, Georgia, Miami, Texas A&M, Louisville, Tennessee, and Michigan State. Baker joins another standout offensive prospect in USC’s 2026 class: five-star quarterback Julian Lewis. Last season, he caught 32 passes for 494 yards and five touchdowns, primarily from current USC quarterback Malachi Nelson.
