South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer is gearing up for a significant recruiting day on Saturday, coinciding with a key SEC matchup against Ole Miss at Williams-Brice Stadium.
His weekend started positively when receiver Jordon Gidron (6-2, 175) from Ridge View High School announced his commitment to the Gamecocks. Additionally, Gidron revealed plans to reclassify from the 2026 class to 2025.
Already regarded as one of the top prospects for 2026 in the state, Gidron joins fellow wide receiver Donovan Murph from Irmo, who also announced plans to reclassify and graduate a year early.
This reclassification allows the players to start their college careers sooner and participate in the school’s NIL payment programs.
Gidron had narrowed his choices to a top twelve, which included USC, Tennessee, Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama, Miami, Duke, North Carolina, Florida State, N.C. State, and LSU.
He became an immediate target of Gamecock receivers coach Mike Furrey when he joined the staff and the two hit it off quickly. USC had offered Gidron in December and Furrey reoffered in March.
“Coach Furrey seems like a great coach. He shares his NFL experience and the people he’s worked with, emphasizing how he can help develop players,” Gidron said earlier this year. “He genuinely wants the best for me, which makes him seem like a good person, and I have a positive impression of him.”
Gidron has visited USC for games and recruiting events multiple times and plans to be in the stands on Saturday. His commitment brings the total to 20 for the Gamecocks’ 2025 class and marks their fourth wide receiver.
Last season, Gidron recorded 45 receptions for 731 yards and 10 touchdowns. So far this season, he has 17 catches for 121 yards in three games, according to MaxPreps statistics.
