Breaking: Texas Bolster Squad Depth In Commitment Of Another Talented Player From Class Of 2025

Earlier in the season, FSU had a bye week and lost two commitments after beginning the season with an 0-3 record. Many fans joked that FSU couldn’t avoid a loss even on a week without a game. It’s amusing how people say history repeats itself, as FSU now finds itself in another bye week with another de-commitment—this time from 2025 blue-chip wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon.

McCutcheon, a Texas native, announced that he’s switching his commitment to the Texas Longhorns. This wasn’t surprising to me, given that FSU’s offense is among the worst in the country, averaging just 14.8 points per game and 4.52 yards per play. What wide receiver would want to join an offense like that? McCutcheon is ranked as the No. 107 player nationally and the No. 14 wide receiver.

**BREAKING:** Four-star wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon has officially flipped his commitment from Florida State to Texas, as reported to @on3recruits. The 6’0″, 180-pound receiver from Lucas, Texas, had been committed to the Seminoles since July. “There’s no place like home,” he said.

This brings up the question of how many of FSU’s remaining 10 commits will actually sign. Given FSU’s 1-5 start, it wouldn’t be surprising to see 3-4 more players de-commit. Earlier Thursday, Mike Norvell and his staff extended an offer to a 2025 UCF commit, possibly anticipating McCutcheon’s departure.

In my view, this signals that the staff knows changes are imminent. Norvell may be forced to overhaul his coaching team to counteract the negative narratives that competitors are using against FSU on the recruiting trail. Ironically, losing these commitments could pressure Norvell to make decisions that might ultimately benefit the program in the long run if he intends to stay on as head coach. With McCutcheon’s de-commitment, FSU’s national ranking now slips to No. 52.
