Major Breaking: Texas Tech confirmed another 5star decommit with flip to Boise State RB commit

One of Texas Tech’s recent offers went out to 2025 Sachse (TX) running back, who is committed to Boise State.

Originally, Texas Tech did not intend to recruit a running back in the 2025 cycle, but circumstances often change in recruiting, especially when the personnel department discovers a player they truly admire.

This is the case with Texas Tech’s recent offer to 2025 running back Brendon Haygood from Sachse (TX) High School. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound three-star recruit received an offer from Texas Tech’s general manager, James Blanchard, last week.

“He mentioned needing a back from the class of ’25 and thinks I’m one of the best based on my film so far,” Haygood told Inside the Red Raiders. “Coach Blanchard has been following me for a while, but we hadn’t really spoken until now.”

According to MaxPreps, Haygood has rushed 85 times for 877 yards (10.3 yards per carry) and 10 touchdowns in seven games this season. He is ranked as the No. 1,371 overall prospect in the country, the No. 102 running back nationally, and the No. 208 overall player in Texas for the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. However, 247Sports ranks him significantly higher, placing him as the No. 52 running back in the nation and the No. 113 player in Texas.

“I’m a game changer,” Haygood said when asked about his playing style. “If things are slow in the first half, I make plays to shift the momentum.”

Texas Tech is not the only program interested in Haygood. He committed to Boise State last month but has received additional offers, including from Cal, Houston, Missouri, and Virginia Tech.

When asked about his commitment to Boise State and whether he is considering other options, Haygood said, “I haven’t really thought about de-committing, but I’m focused on developing as a back and getting a good education while performing at the next level.”

Despite his commitment to Boise State, Haygood has a visit planned to Texas Tech on November 9, when the Red Raiders host Colorado. He also has connections to the program: freshman outside linebacker Cheta Ofili, a top signee from the 2024 class out of Sachse, is a friend, and former Red Raider linebacker Riko Jeffers, a three-year captain, is now an assistant coach at Sachse.
