Dallas Mavericks Could Be Landing Spot For Another Top Talented Player in Trade for $27 Million Forward With Thunder

After reaching the NBA Finals earlier this year, the Dallas Mavericks are aiming to replicate that success in the upcoming season. One low-key strategy suggested by analysts is to trade for Kenrich Williams.

As they prepare for the 2024-25 NBA season, the Mavericks are looking to build on their surprising Finals appearance. They made significant offseason moves, including acquiring Klay Thompson from the Golden State Warriors. At 34, Thompson brings championship experience and exceptional three-point shooting, making him a great fit alongside stars Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving. Additionally, the addition of Spencer Dinwiddie enhances their offensive depth.

However, the Mavericks face challenges in maintaining their defensive strength after losing key players like Tim Hardaway Jr. and Josh Green. Despite these departures, Dončić’s stellar performance—leading the league with an average of 33.9 points, nearly 10 rebounds, and assists—remains central to the team’s success.

Projected to win around 49.5 games this season, there are concerns about consistency, especially with Thompson and Irving potentially missing games due to age.

The Mavericks’ schedule starts favorably, featuring several home games, including a notable matchup against the Boston Celtics on Christmas Day. As they gear up for the season, they are well-positioned for a playoff run, but staying focused in a competitive landscape will be crucial.

To enhance their perimeter defense, Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey suggests that the Mavericks consider trading for Kenrich Williams from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Standing at 6’6″, Williams is a versatile wing who has shot 38.8% from three-point range over the past four seasons, making him a valuable addition. With Dante Exum’s injury history raising concerns, acquiring Williams could provide Dallas with another reliable defender and shooting threat, complementing the drives from Dončić and Irving.
